Colors on the Bay

Born and raised in Broad Channel, Schmitt wanted to bring her artwork to her hometown. The four 9 x 5 feet crocheted panels that you see above you is a combination of old and new work. Contrasting from her usual abstract work, Colors on the Bay pays tribute to traditional crochet patterns such as the iconic granny square and simple single stitch chains. The use of bright colors paired with the motifs of things found in nature create an overall visibly entertaining scene for the public to admire during day or night, rain or shine. Colors on the Bay was on display from July 18th 2024 to August 19th 2024.
